Holistic Therapies for Mind & Body

AROMATHERAPY FACIAL

“I visited Shelagh’s clinic for an Aromatherapy Facial which was a real pleasure. It felt gentle and soothing and also relieved some puffiness from around my eyes. While I lay relaxing with the masque on, she gave me a lovely complimentary hand massage as part of the treatment which was unexpected and really made it special.

My skin was glowing and felt soft and smooth afterwards. Writing this has just reminded me to organise another one soon…”

HOT STONES & STICKS

Using heat or warmth during massage is wonderful for helping the body settle and relax. The warmth allows deeper work into soft tissues.

Sticks and Stones are highly effective tools during Remedial and Sports Massage treatments. When used therapeutically, hot basalt stones or warm bamboo sticks are moved swiftly over the skin. Clients often find this promotes relaxation and a welcome experience of comfort.

INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

Shiro -Abhyanga

Shiro means mind, head and neck. Abhyanga means therapeutic massage.

Indian Head Massage is a soothing, relaxing, head and neck therapy that can have remarkable effects on mind and body.

Ayurveda

Practiced according to timeless Ayurvedic principles, Shiro Abhyanga was originally brought to the West in the 1970’s by different spiritual guides from India. Ayurveda is a natural healing system, considered to be the oldest form of medicine.

It’s a safe, simple and very effective stress-busting therapy that can be given to someone fully clothed so it’s ideal for both clinic and corporate employee wellbeing solutions .

Helpful Tip

It’s best to have an Indian Head Massage before you’re due to wash your hair as it involves the use of oils. The oil is chosen to work with your body type : Vata, Pita or Kapa.

When washing your hair, before you add water, lather the shampoo into your dry hair, work it all in,  then add water, washing and drying as usual.

The science bit

Your hair and shampoo will form an emulsion if you add the shampoo onto yoru dry hair. If you ad water first, the oil and water staying separate from each other and the shampoo can’t do it’s thing.

Useful tip if you have sun tan oil in your hair too!

THAI FOOT MASSAGE

Thai Foot Massage is an ancient Chinese traditional massage that has been used for more than 3000 years to prevent and help alleviate the symptoms of many conditions.

Thai treatments are based on the body’s SEN lines which represent the way energies flow through the body. it involves working on these channels as well as working the reflex points of the foot for various organs of the body,

The technique used involves thumbs, palms, hands, fingers and a wooden acupressure tool.

It’s great for alleviating tension within the lower leg and foot and in addition, foot massage can have profound benefits on the body, invoking a state of relaxation, balance, calmness and wellbeing

For walkers or cyclists on the John Muir Way, Thai Foot massage offers a welcome treat for your feet with a refreshing, revitalising therapy at my Dullatur Clinic just a short detour off the path.
