Movement is medicine – keeping muscles and mind on the move
You might remember from a previous blog that last year I trained with John Kerr at Bridge of Allan Sports Club to run the Strathcarron 10K. Well, apart from a brief spell when I injured my knee and couldn’t run (note to self – don’t polish a wooden floor!), I’ve kept up the running with John and I’m really enjoying it – so far the wind and rain hasn’t stopped me ..but its early days and autumn is only just here.
And what else?… well, aside from the courses I do as continuous professional development in my life as a massage therapist which are always great for mind and body, I’ve been loving Stand Up Paddleboarding both Scotland and also in Portugal with the wonderful Dave Partridge of nowhere2far. I’m about to do a BSUPA Stand Up Paddleboard instructor course later this autumn. Not having much of a head for heights, I’ve also been doing scary-ish things in the Dolomites like climbing through the first world war tunnels in the mountain at Lagazuoi . However, without doubt the biggest achievement for me this year is that I’ve managed to get up and surf on a wakesurf board which after numerous occasions being dragged through the water, unable to get myself up, I now can and, for me……… it feels amazing.
