EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE

The scope of massage therapy is wide – not just from the type of massage therapy (for example Remedial and Sports or Swedish) but also from the more detailed aspects of the treatment – specifically the various techniques used, the depth of pressure, the length of treatment, or the appropriate maintenance plan. Shelagh believes that there is no recipe or set routine that fits all. Each individual case must be assessed and treated uniquely from the huge bank of techniques, positions and pressures that a fully qualified, professional massage therapist can apply.

Having had a long career in business before becoming a massage therapist, Shelagh is acutely aware of how stress, anxiety and musculo skeletal conditions can adversely affects a person’s life both at home and at work. She believes that by a person becoming more aware of the responsibility that they have for their own health – especially as people are living longer – and by considering complementary therapy as an alternative to conventional medicines, that many people who may not have considered massage therapy may find massage is highly beneficial.

In addition to keeping up to date with latest research, techniques and attending further development of her skill by attending workshops and reading latest journals and with a client base across the age spectrum and presenting a huge variety of conditions, Shelagh continues to increase her knowledge and experience.
